Letter to the editor: Voters would be smart to choose Anne Duff

As a former public school teacher and a parent and grandparent of children in public schools, I understand the value of our local public schools. Public schools are the great equalizer in our democracy.

Anne Duff, candidate for at-large position on FWCS school board, believes in public education also. Anne taught in public schools for 17 years; she has served five years as PTA president; she currently has three children in public school in FWCS area; and she is a regular attendant at FWCS school board meetings. Anne has also testified before the State Board of Education and has written numerous letters to Indiana legislators protesting the so-called reform measures originally started by former public education Superintendent Tony Bennett.

Voters in the FWCS area would be smart to vote for a qualified candidate like Anne Duff. Anne’s positions are clear-cut and transparent. Go to her website, www.anneduffforeducation.com, to learn more about this pro-public schools candidate.

Being an advocate means speaking out for what you believe in.  Sometimes that means stepping outside of one's comfort zone to show support for what you feel is right.  These are some of the letters I have sent to various legislators and newspapers to show my position on public education.
